The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Part Deux
This movie is slowly moving it's way up to my all-time top favorite movies list. In the second installment of the movie we are slowly learning more about "The Ugly's" character and we find out that he's not all that bad of a guy. We also find out that "The Good" is not exactly invincible and he also dies as he is lead out into the middle of nowhere. I can't wait for the third installment of this great movie.

I agree, at first i took no interest in it. but now I am starting to like it.
ReplyDeleteI stated in my blog that I felt some sympathy for Tuco also. We found out about his parents dying and how his brother views him and how he views his brother now. It pulls at the heart strings a little, but I didn't forget about how he treated Blondie. I can't wait to see what happens with the two of them...oh yeah...and where is "THE BAD"?
ReplyDeleteYes--the character's aren't aloud to be just "types" in this film. I love that we get to know more about Tuco--especially because, as a non-white main character, he's the one that audiences would be most likely to stereotype. Leone seems to always be challenging some of the color stereotypes of classic Westerns--making blonde Henry Fonda into the villain in Once Upon a Time in the West for instance. It's revealing that Fonda assumes he'd need to dye his hair and wear dark contacts, but Leone will have none of it. The stereotype of the unproblematic blonde hero is precisely what's under attack.
